KIRKUS REVIEW

A collection of biographies of the more contemporary composers of songs and light opera on the American scene, includes such names as Victor Herbert, Jerome Kern, Gerahwin, Rogers, Hart, Romberg and many others. Each sketch is a short coverage of the man's life, taken from an appropriate angle- giving the vital statistics along with brief appreciations of his music. Though unoriginal in quality, these have the warmth the populace feels and they make a handy package of information.
