ERIC IN ALASKA

By

Pub Date: Aug. 16th, 1967
Publisher: Morrow

The resemblance to Danny (On the Lookout) and John (and His Thumbs) is more than format deep: like his precursors, Eric has a problem--he gets in the way when he wants to be helpful--and a chance to prove himself. This time the setting's the Alaskan coast--flocks of geese, seals; puffins--and the occupational study is salmon fishing. After falling in the sea, streaking his face with dye, and entangling the net, Eric warns of a school of killer whales, there by redeeming himself and assuring his future as a good fisherman. This is one of the least of the series, but the details of salmon fishing and sympathy, for Eric will encourage acceptance among youngsters who do not, after all, have reviewers' total recall.
