THE LAND THAT ISN'T THERE

This time Wibberley (No Garlic in the Soup) takes only Kevin and Tricia on his travels, here to Ireland to show them why he was an Irishman, and their two month stay is a string of stories, incidents, small villages and lots of people. Connemara and its lack of modern equipment brings them fishing and boating adventures, some ghosts, two cars, horse races, gypsies and tinkers, a very mixed up music festival, and a scurry or two when they run out of money. The three agree that Ireland is a ""happy kind of place in a sad kind of way"" and their excursions -- which are considerably more domestic than T. H. White's The Godstone and the Blackymor -- have that atmosphere of the unexpected that is this author's signature.
