SMOKING AND CANCER: A DOCTOR'S REPORT

Dr. Ochsner, a thoracic surgeon and the former president of the American Cancer Society, adds here the statistical evidence to his own experience and substantiates his charge that tobacco is ""a lethal weapon, loaded for suicide. Time pulls the trigger"". He continues, no less ominously, to indicate why smoking can cause cancer- and does; who is most susceptible; and what other damages are attributable to nicotine- while also negating the claims of the ""protective"" brands of cigarettes, and the faulty findings of the industry.... A militant onslaught, this sounds a tocsin (as well as all the sour notes in that singing commercial), and ties in with the recent official findings.
