A SERIOUS INVESTIGATION

Margaret Brandon, accredited medium whose talents had even helped the police on occasion, is found dead. . . and not from supernatural forces. Detective Jesse, who was fond of the elderly lady, finds his suspects tange from a dissipated nephew to an aging homosexual neighbor and a young man she'd once criticized for harassing a young girl. The case also has it tie-in with an unsolved crime the rape/murder of an eight-year-old child. The solution is actually a fluke after some unusually complex side-tracking. All very serious and very competently handled.
