KIRKUS REVIEW

A book of eleven fantastic and delightful stories about the narrator and her two capricious daughters, Elinor and Lee. In the introduction Louis Untermeyer remarks sagely that ""every other word is true, depending on which the other words are."" A tame giraffe, a trip to China -- digging from the cellar down -- and a pineapple upside down cake made from pine needles and Mackintosh apples contribute to these tall stories. A gem for the child with imagination and a sense of humor.
