KIRKUS REVIEW

An increasing number of ministers find themselves obliged to preach on the seven words from the Cross each Good Friday. Some of these ""last words"" immediately suggest a wealth of ideas and a variety of interpretations. They are easy to preach from. Others are not so easy. But to preach on all of the seven words year in and year out, the minister needs all the help he can get. This book is valuable for that reason. It provides preachers with new ideas about old texts. The book centers about the central idea of ""love"". The first word: ""Father forgive them..."" is entitled ""Love in Action"". (2) ""This day shalt ?thou be with me..."" in ""Loe Unconditional"". (3) ""Woman behold thy son..."" is ""Love's Responsibilities"". (4) ""My God -- Why?... "" is ""Love's Extremity"". (5) ""I thirst..."" is ""Love's Priorities"". (6) ""It is finished"" -- ""Love's Consumption"" and (7) ""Unto Thy ...""- ""Love's Surrender"".
