The author, a member of the British Conference of the Methodist Church, is a well known editor. His work in the London Quarterly and Holborn Review ranks with the best religious papers and these papers are very good indeed. This book is notably practical. Perhaps Mr. Church understands doubting Thomas so well because he himself is a matter of fact person. He sees the tragedy of our world not as a catastrophe, but as the result of our own cumulative folly. He offers no panacea for our ills, but believes we will sink or swim according to our faith.
