An adumbrated pseudo-scientific expose of American life and customs which pirouettes from the economic to the social, from the educational to the sexual, from class and caste to the crass and cash, -- this is very much a tongue-in-the-cheek accumulation of misinformation. Peppered with footnotes, purporting to be from scholars and their texts, larded with dead-pan interpretations of the American scene, this spoofs and double-spoofs the unbelievable results of our guilt complexes, matriarchy, our codes of consumption, family mores and household lares and penates, and tabulates the grim harvest of our self-created dilemmas. And the solution is that we start all over again. Not the high style humor of Lancaster's There'll Always Be A Draynefleete but an amazingly funny perversion of scientific formulae and a wonderfully topsy-turvy display of Americans and the way they live. This should be lots of fun to sell.
