KIRKUS REVIEW

A somewhat difficult, and not always cohesive, discussion of the causes of war in England -- and in Germany -- an examination of Fascism and Marxism, their enigmas and their conflicts...of German Youth and the revolt against liberalism, Marxism and the West...and finally the conclusion which returns to the title, that the annihilation of man has been brought about through scientific thought, that utilitarianism, Darwinism, Freudianism, behavioursim has destroyed the spirit of mankind -- and that only through poetry, belief, Christianity primarily, can man be saved. An analysis which contributes something of each, -- the political, economic, metaphysical, Limited.
