KIRKUS REVIEW

A somewhat lusterless ""best"" with a few bright spots. John Brunner does very funny things with a reprogramming-difficult-child premise; R. A. Lafferty is his usual fey and slippery self on the real identity and future of the human race; Harlan Ellison abjures his habitual horror-comics vein to try a more disciplined excursion into the ominous (Terran invasion awakens dormant alien superweapon). Not a really balanced collection but enough good moments.
