A sequel to Ronnie (1952, p. 71) takes the orphaned boy, from his northern California home with Aunt Sal, on a grand adventure in the Mojave Desert and Baja California. His friends the Thompsons of Carmel ask him to go to Palito Jake's with their son Don who needs a summer in the desert for his health. At Jake's mining camp near Barstow, the boys meet Pedro, a ""wetback"" boy from Mexico, and through weeks of adventuring , visiting another mine in Baja, and learning the desert first hand- they help Pedro find his lost twin and establish both Mexican boys with legal entry permits and a solid future with Jake. Don Perceval's drawings add action to the kind of well shaved story boys like.
