While working and weathering the treacherous winter in the wilds with the help of good natured Warden Buck Larrabee, State Trooper Jack Bailey and Jeff's pal Skipper, Jeff trips up against a mystery involving the body of what had been supposedly an escaped convict, sinister Gaston LeFleur, the trapper, a gentle, whiskered recluse, Willie Whiskers, and a mysterious rumor of a ""white wolf"". Narrow escapes, sleuthing and races through the snow bring about the unraveling. Friendly banter adds chuckles.
