KIRKUS REVIEW

Deputy Sheriff Pete Chaney's girl, Julie, is beaten and raped by an unknown man, and although Chaney suspects that one Luke Caine is guilty, he wants him to have a fair trial. Not so- the natives (or the girl's parents) who are ready to lynch him, or his brothers three who try to shoot his way out of jail. But Chaney sees that justice is done, the right way... Keeps moving fast, if without any particular distinction.
