KIRKUS REVIEW

...was the sprawling ranch in New Mexico ruled by titan John Sunblade who wielded a heavy hand until he was forced to the sidelines and finally killed. Dane, of the same mettle as the old man, fights a lone battle against his scheming legal-demon foster brother, hired killers and his maverick younger brother. At showdown, most of the ranch hands, whom old John had held in check through fear, desert, leaving the empire to crumble. But Sunblade survives, in a less feudal manner, after some taut and tough rustler routing.
