Man began with three metals- gold, silver and copper. Later he learned about ores and the amazing results of smelting. The Egyptians went on to combine ores, and out of tin and copper, came bronze. The appearance of iron was a milestone in the discovery of new metals and the invention of steel, one of man's greatest industrial achievements.
