FAITH FOR LIVING

This follow up on Men Must Act takes up the cudgels again for sacrifice that will sustain the best things in our democratic way of life and thought. He sees the weaknesses of democracy; he accuses the Church, Capitalism, Liberalism for the love of ease and luxury that has brought blindness, and permitted the forces of evil full away. Now is the time to appraise our values, to throw overboard the outworn. He believes in the old-fashioned virtues; he knows they demand sacrifice, that truth, justice and love may triumph. An idealistic book, which at the same time is realistic. Conservatives will feel he is iconoclastic; there will be hurt feelings on all sides. But fundamentally, he is demanding what we all want, a creed which sustains courage, and looks forward.
