A GNOME THERE WAS

....""And Other Tales of Science Fiction and Fantasy"", this collection presents the unreal in terms which seem quite real, relies little on intricate invention and is most successful in its of victimization and hallucination. There is Peter Talley, who could read the future and exerted the power of life and death for a small clientele; Dawson, who suffered from an extension of sensory consciousness; the two children who solved the time-span equation, and vanished into another world; a robot radio and a hexed house and a warlock cat. All in all, these have their ironic as well as their ingenious moments, and achieve an hypnotic horror.
