THIS TOWN NEEDS A DOCTOR

This town needs at least two doctors since Miss Block, an old Good Housekeeping writer, has plotted this within an inch of just about everyone's life, ending with a malpractice suit, a murder and a kidnapping. The latter that of the doctor's wife, Carla, who has been responsible for helping Josh Glover (ex-Levy) through medical school, and although his glands have betrayed him from time to time he's a good man determined to be an all-round doctor in this small New England community. Above him there's a Dr. Manson who has exploited and fooled everyone; the town's nearby first family who have kept their daughter's epilepsy a secret until she wanders off into the woods with the murderer -- a retardate; etc., etc. Even in spansule form it's hard to swallow but then there are many popular precedents and commercial equivalents -- Agatha Young and Mildred Savage to begin with.
