CUCKOO

A fascinating addition to the Lida series, a text that might have been pure is somehow or other shorn of sentimentality. Lovely pictures by Rojankovsky. The story of the coming of spring, of birds and nest building, of a cuckoo egg laid in , of how the baby cuckoo displaces its nest mates, and finally grew too big for the opening. The colored pictures carry the story from page to page, and the text is not too babyish for just above the picture book age.
