KIRKUS REVIEW

Translated by a Chinese scholar and an English poet and translator, this anthology is a worthy contribution to the Unesco Collection of Representative Works, Chinese Series. The six Chinese poets from whose works these translations were made, differ in form and style but ""share the common theme of solitude and solitary meditation and reverie"". The orka range chronologically from approximately 220 A.D. to the year 960. Attractive format and an informative introduction outlining the chronological development of prosody in Chinese poetry.
