KIRKUS REVIEW

A swell boy's story brings out an old theme, dusts it off and shines it up like a bright new penny. Paul goes about helping people with the various things in his pockets- a nail fixes a wagon, a piece of string is used as a plumb line. Then when Mr. Frans the old watchmaker discover's Paul's fear of swimming he gives him an old coin for luck- that works even after Paul loses it and realizes it's not the charm but his own belief that makes success.
