KIRKUS REVIEW

This is a step up from The Golden Dictionary as a learning tool, for here are familiar words (800 of them) defined and used, with the different meanings and the different word forms, singular and plural, and in different tenses for the verbs. Not every word is illustrated, but so large a proportion of them that the pictures help carry the ideas. This should help encourage children to learn how to use a dictionary a bit more difficult. But frankly, the number of words is so relatively small, that one wonders whether the jump couldn't be made without this interim step.
