THE GOLDEN PICTURE BOOK OF NUMBERS

By

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

The goal is effortless learning of what numbers mean, what they can do, the part they play in daily living. Perhaps- with an interested adult using this as a sort of progressively difficult game- this would meet that goal. But, for the second grade reader, for whom, presumably, this series is planned, the text is too difficult- the pictures alone not enough. A great deal is crowded into the pages,- color, time, concepts of calendar, of high and low, of order (first, second, etc.- not always consistently), and addition, subtraction, how many, how much -- much of it within the average child's comprehension, some of it beyond.
