KIRKUS REVIEW

A movie scenario in book form, interesting as an experiment, but not as good reading as a play in book form. The text is less concerned with individual problems than her Little Foxes or Watch on the Rhine. This is a dramatization of the invasion of Russia through one small village, a tiny farming community. Bombed from the air, then absorbed in the Naziadvance: women and children slain, children used as blood donors, women third-degreed, and everywhere heroic resistance, scorched earth policy in action, and escape into guerilla bands. Should make a fine picture --but doubtful book value.
