Lillian O'Donnell really settled down for the better when she found policewoman Norah Mulcahaney who, in this fourth time around, is mostly concerned with having or getting a baby. Providentially, too providentially, she's given a three-year-old to adopt and before long she and her husband Joe are threatened by another kind of Family--they want Joe to drop a narcotics-murder investigation. There's that, and all kinds of other people involved in the grey baby market from a doctor to a lawyer to an agency with disappearing personnel. Comfortably uncomfortable and not too softshelled for fathers as well as mothers.
