NO BUSINESS BEING A COP

Who is luring New York City's women cops to scenes of crime--a bombing at Gimbel's, a mugging, a domestic dispute--and then killing them? Could it be one of the women's own male colleagues, a cop who's crazy-bitter about senior men losing their jobs to incoming women? Sergeant Norah Mulcahaney obviously hasn't read Agatha Christie's A.B.C. Murders, since it takes her quite a while to realize that the insane multiple-murders are of course covering up for one strongly motivated murder in particular. But level-headed, resourceful Norah is always welcome (O'Donnell has tried an alternate heroine much less successfully), and there's sufficient N.Y.C. grit and enough twists on the old Christie formula to make this a solid addition to the best woman-cop series around.
