Folk tale (with a moral) of a cobbler who had every virtue a cobbler should have except that he was greedy. And this put a spell on him when he had his chance to make shoes for the king (and decided that he could jump the price). The story rollicks along, as shoe after shoe comes out for the left foot, and Peg-a-Leg seems destined to die on the gallows until his wife puts an idea into his head- and all is saved.
