SILENT FURY

A first novel of suspense that splits at the seams with murders, sleaze, beatings, fraud, and even a witch hunt. Embedded in all the nasty is the path of a long-lived revenge. When Luke McBride and gorgeous Eileen Sweeney of Chicago are willingly pushed into marriage by adoring parents, Luke dumps his girlfriend Darleen, who's such a good sport about it all. Unwise. Darleen, through the years, proceeds to: fry Luke's parents in a roaring house-fire on his wedding night; drown a child who suspected; kill husband number one and their child; etc. etc. In the meantime, Eileen divorces playboy Luke; becomes a career woman in public-relations; raises (more or less) daughter Farrell; and has an affair with mobster-type Michael Payne. Then Eileen's ``fey'' sister Meg and niece Farrell, both artists, move to a village community on Lake Michigan. Farrell latches onto Michael (who has nearly killed a gay partner) and plans marriage—but is rescued in time; Meg's brother cheats them out of millions; and the villagers decide that Meg and Farrell are witches. All this while Darleen is crooning over her cauldron and doing ghastly things to animals and people before she gets hers. Too much of a not-so-good thing. A little dab of these dirty doings will do it for ya.
