Subtitled Animals on the Move, a handsome depiction of the annual migration of millions of animals through Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and adjacent reserves. The beautifully reproduced color photos—closeups of the many species that participate in or prey upon the trek and panoramas of the terrain through which they pass—are best here. Captions identify species and interpret the photos; a brief text adds some information, though it repeatedly emphasizes the ``dangers'' of the journey in the form of predators without addressing either the natural balance to which the prey-predator relationship is essential or the fact that some of these species are endangered. A note points out that the Maasai used also to occupy this territory. Glossary. (Nonfiction. 8-12)
