SOUND

As in Light the text is centered on the fundamental fact that sound travels in waves. The pictures are bright and amusing with children and animals acting out situations that demonstrate the effects of differences in frequency and amplitude and the substances through which light travels. The experiments are mostly observational but end up with some more creative ones like rigging up a simple telephone. It is a nice, basic text with no problems in either reading or understanding, but with the material to sustain the early interest.
