A book of advice on achieving optimal health and well-being by addressing nine distinct “areas” of life.

In this insightful guidebook, Fridolin (Mirrorwork to Get the Most Out of Your Time & Life, 2015, etc.), an attorney, joins holistic philosophies with gentle tips on living a more harmonious existence. The author notes that there are many people who aren’t at peace with their own lives, and her handbook analyzes how making subtle changes in one’s home, work space, and personal attitudes can have vast benefits. She focuses first on physical and mental self-awareness and self-care, then assesses what’s working or not working in what she calls the nine primary “life areas.” These include one’s career, one’s close relationships, “Wealth, Abundance, and Good Fortune,” “Health, Unity, and Well-Being,” and one’s past and future, among others. Questions and exercises appraise and determine where changes are necessary to stimulate personal growth. Some of the more general advice will appeal to lay readers who respond well to homespun philosophy. Other sections on using a nine-star ki astrological system or chakra cleansing, however, are most likely to engage readers who are already familiar with these elements. Both types of advice, however, are clearly written, and in the chapters on cultivating sacred home surroundings, Fridolin even taps into her interior design acumen to promote the benefits of clearing clutter and employing complementary décor. Throughout, the author pleasantly finds magic and possibility in the everyday; for instance, she asserts that mirrors promote energy flow and that certain colors contain qualities that inspire emotional warmth, clarity, and financial stability. And in a pivotal chapter on the key concept of embracing change, she expresses it by noting that “The universe does not stand still.”

Wholesome, convincing, and encouraging self-help guidance.
