WONDER KID MEETS THE EVIL LUNCH SNATCHER

From a talented author of suspense fiction for older children and teens, a pedestrian story for younger readers. The first day at their new school, fourth-grade Brian's and his little sister Sarah's lunches are confiscated by a gang of bullies who terrorize the school unchecked. But, although Brian is a self-described nerd who had few friends at his old school, he is immediately befriended by classmate Robbie. Together they, Sarah, and Sarah's new friend invent ""Wonder Kid,"" played by Brian; remarkably, sixth-grade Matt and his gang are convinced that he is a superhero and promise to desist. Although undemanding and easy to read, with the added appeal of a bully bested, this undistinguished book lacks humor, drama, and plausibility.
