LOVE SONG FOR JOYCE

The first year of college marks the difficult transition between adolescence and adulthood, and is the theme of this story of Joyce Reynolds' freshman year at a North Carolina college. Joyce, to whom acceptance means everything is fundamentally against the exclusive sorority system, but finds that membership in a sorority gives her a much needed feeling of security. How, by nurturing her own talents, she faces this adult problem of ambivalence, and how, in the process, she learns to distinguish between ephemeral and real love, make the theme of Joyce's love song a credible and major one.
