KIRKUS REVIEW

Once again, Lois Lenski has drawn on the background of the section of Connecticut she knows best (near Torrington) for a story of family life 100 years ago. A parson's family has outgrown the boundaries of their income, and one of the children is adopted by an eccentric old great aunt, and she sets about trying to secure for her sisters the things she is offered for herself. A good picture of the day, told in a friendly anecdotal story.
