CROSS AMONG THE TOMAHAWKS

By

Publisher: Doubleday

Before Tsiko, the Ossasane Indian boy, is fully converted to Christianity by a Jesult priest, he asks many penetrating questions. Why is the medicine man who wanders the Lake shore a hoax? What are angels, if not spirits? The major part of Tsiko's education occurs in under the guidance of the jesuits there. Once he is convinced, Talks attempts to help his people against the murderous iroquois, although he realizes his tribe is a fast-disappearing indian nation. He is grateful that many have welcomed the Cross into their lives along with the tomahawk. An interesting portion of 17th Century Canadian history is highlighted with fictional overtones, dramatizing the growing communication between two totally different cultures.
