HE CONQUIRED THE ANDES

There have been at least two full-length biographies of olivar for young people, and it is time that one appeared on Jose de San Martin, literator of Argentina-a fascinating figure with a story of hardships and fierce determination just as interesting, as Bolivar's. The author has done an excellent job -- her story sweeps along, the picture of the Argentine country is vivid and well-drawn, and her hero emerges as an admirable and courageous character.
