THE NEW HOUSE

The Woodchuck family goes through some predictable paces when the Prairie Dogs move to ""New Meadows,"" the modern housing project across the field, and Ma and Pa Woodchuck decide to take their own Winnie and Woodie over for a look at the model home. What with the roomy basement, the playground, and all those kitchen gadgets, the Woodchucks are all so sold on the project that they put their own cozy stone house up for sale. But--you guessed it--showing prospective buyers the fireplace from fieldstones ""we had a hard time finding,"" Pa's hand-built breakfast nook and corner cupboard, and the swing and raspberry bushes outdoors brings back so many fond memories that the Woodchucks decide just to switch things round a bit and stay where they are. Conventional pieties, unenlivened by the animal figures.
