A family story, rather thinly plotted, but presenting in story form a panorama of this country. The Lorimers, Mother, Daddy and the twins, drive from Long Island to California,- out via Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, on to Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming, Utah and Nevada; back via the southern route- and find adventure and excitement and fun. There are the intimate details of the planning, the packing, the little economies, the sleeping in the open -- wholesome, realistic family situations with a recognizable quality for most young readers. And it is a liberal education in the American scene.
