Dale didn't like being called a sissy, but he knew he wasn't good at the things other boys could do, and he was afraid of being afraid. So he had a few tough days when his parents sent him to his uncle's farm for the summer. But circumstances forced him to learn to do lots of things, and he soon found he wasn't afraid any more, and that living and working on a dairy farm was fun. It was uphill going to make his cousin Jud like him, but eventually he made a place for himself.
