POPE PIUS XII, ROCK OF PEACE

An appreciative biography of Eugenic Pacelli, elected Pius XII in 1939. The biography reviews his early scholarly life in the study of Canon Law, his ordination and progression in eminence to the title of Cardinal in 1929, after which he became Secretary of State to the Vatican and Arch-Priest of Saint Peter's. As Cardinal, Pacelli made many trips abroad and his activities are reported upon in detail. There are many descriptions of grand processions and ceremonies when he is elected Pope and some attention is given the Papal proclamations. This is less of an objective portrait and more of a clarification of the organization of the Papal state and the offices of the Pope in relation to church practice. For Catholic children.
