I WANT TO SEE THE MOON

When toddler Toby wakes in the night, all he wants is to see the moon. Still, he's patiently agreeable while Dad plies him with other activities: a trip to the bathroom, a new diaper, a book by the fire, warm milk--at which point Toby finally asserts himself and says, ""I don't want [one],"" and Dad takes him outdoors to see a grand full moon. The warm relationship between father and child; the series of cozily familiar activities; Toby's polite persistence; and the special, shared nighttime experience are all beautifully extended in Daly's soft, cheerful, realistic pencil and watercolor illustrations. A few minor details in the illustrations reveal the story's British origins. Just right for the youngest, in lap or group.
