KIRKUS REVIEW

Unusual, well-sustained series of ghostly lore linked by the continuing appearance of two boys who help a ghost who makes friends with them, and who introduces them to the spirits of the neighborhood. The Upper Hudson is the source of the stories. With resourceful scholarship, the author has combed the native folklore and personal sources, and gives us here a fascinating collection- for any age. Joe and Pete are two lively, curious boys -- under thirteen- and add a solid note of reality to a ""haunting"" theme -- so real a note that one goes along with the author who suggests that after all who knows that ghosts aren't real.
