BERNARD LAMOTTE

A French artist -- resident in New York, but painting always French subjects, is known to the American art public through exhibits, through the Capehart and De Beers collections, and through his work as an illustrator (he did the pictures for Flight to Arras). Brief biography -- and more extensive analysis of his methods of work that of his contemporaries whose influence he acknowledges. I found most interesting of all the feeling one gets of seeing him at work as successive sketches, plotting of pictures and final paintings are shown.
