CHALLENGE OF THE UNKNOWN

A lecturer on, and an afficianado of psychical research, this is a book of general theory and orientation, giving ""important findings and cardinal conclusions"" in what has always been an inconclusive field, maligned, mistrusted. I don't believe that this is the book which will sell psychical science to the unbelievers- much of it is rather formless- but Anspacher has been careful to use only the most reliable of evidence and spokesmen. Of the ""triviality"" of the evidence mediums produce; of various types of psychic phenomena in art, literature- the ""subliminal faculty"" or inspirational force which has produced great works; what philosophers have said about psychic evidence; what science and religion have said. Most interesting of course in all this- which is largely generalization- are the case presentations of various psychic manifestations. For the devotee, as this will not convert others.
