A TIME FOR PEACE: Verses from the Bible

Pub Date: Oct. 20th, 1969
Publisher: World

A group of familiar Biblical verses, selected for their peaceful sentiments, from the collaborators on the more attractive and auspicious collection of psalms, Songs of Joy. The pages are drab (washed-out grays on paper-bag brown), the drawings are repetitiously serene and lifeless as lions sit around with lambs (must peace mean inactivity?). The brief excerpts, which rarely fill more than half the page, are generally well known: ""Glory to God in the highest/ And on earth peace,/ Good will toward men""; ""and they shall beat their swords into plowshares. . . ""; ""And a little child shall lead them""; ""To everything there is a season. . . ""; ""Be not forgetful to entertain strangers. . . ""; 'Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. . ."" A whimper.
