THE WIDE-AWAKE OWL

This is a humorous bed-time whimsy about Olga the little owl who could not sleep. Well meaning forest friends gave her advice. But though the chipmunk could curl up in a tight little ball, Olga tried his method and found herself still awake. The blue-jay could tuck his head under his wing but owl-insomnia lingered still. Nor did the possum's suggestion have effect. Olga tried hanging upside down -- with no results. And when she tried rocking herself to sleep as the robin advised, she fell off her branch and woke everybody. But the thrush-lullaby brought slumber. Small heads should nod agreeably at bed time with this benign barbiturate.
