PLAY IN POETRY

Four lectures given at Amherst:- Wit and Sensibility, The Religious Conceit, Reason in Rhyme, The Living Inflection. From these angles he approaches the play spirit as an element in poetry, and as he presents his thesis, he makes one look at poetry from a new slant. A final chapter is a discussion of the place of poetry in the modern world. Special note -- a new poem by Frost is included.
