KIRKUS REVIEW

An isolated incident of the Civil War, this gives the probable happenings of agent Andrews' assignment to stop the movement of the W. & A. railroad. His first attempt fails, and on his second, with 21 men, he is successful in stealing a locomotive, bringing his telegraph, bridge and track wrecking crew through the Gray lines, but his luck runs out and the daredevils are caught and jailed, tortured and finally executed. A spy story of risks, close timing, and raiders' luck, this is good historical material, with a fine share of suspense.
