The story revolves around the Merediths, a family living in five beautiful houses on ""The Terrace"" and typifying the ""reigning family"" idea so characteristic of certain communities north of Boston. Cousin Sally tells the story, frankly, engagingly, sometimes bluntly, often with keen humor. There is romance; there is mystery.
